Experience & Interests: Karen deGenevieve has had extensive experience in critical care nursing as a staff nurse and manager. Before relocating to Albuquerque in 2017, she worked for many years at the Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City, NM. She managed the Special Care Unit for seven years, developing and implementing case management of oncology patients. As liaison between NMCC and Gila Regional Medical Center, she cared for oncology patients in her community for fifteen years. She also cared for patients with William Fowler, MD, at a Family Medicine Clinic in Silver City.
Karen is a provider for the New Mexico Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program whose mandate is to offer screening services to non- insured and underinsured women.
In 2003, Karen was the recipient of the Steve Schiff Award from the People Living Through Cancer for her work developing cancer care in Silver City.
