Help Using the NMCC Website - FAQ
We have tried to design this new website to be as useful and as easy to use as possible, for people of all ages and technical abilities. We will continue to ask for your feedback and suggestions.
But we know that sometimes people get a bit lost, especially if you or a loved one are also dealing with an illness. So, this page was written to be a helpful guide. It is organized as a list of Frequently Asked Questions, often abbreviated "FAQ". You may click on any of the questions below to open up the answer.
Most of the links on the NMCC website connect to other information on this site. From any page here, you can easily use the menus to navigate to any other page.
But there are some links on the NMCC website that take you to the websites of other organizations that we recommend. When you are done exploring the outside website, we have made it very easy to return here. Depending on how you have set up your browser, the outside website will either open in a new tab or a new window. Either way, the NMCC website will remain open in your browser. When you wish to return here, simply click on the NMCC tab, or the NMCC window. That way, you won't have to backtrack through pages at the outside site or re-enter the address for the NMCC website, and you'll be right where you left off.
There is a lot of information on this website, but we have designed the site to be as simple and as fast as possible for you to find the information that you need using our menu system.
There are four types of menus on this site:
Top Bar Menu - At the very top of every page, you will find the Top Bar Menu that is designed for immediate and easy access for five basic tasks, found in four brightly colored rectangles and a phone number. Here are the tasks:
PATIENT PORTAL. Clicking this button sends a patient to the confidential "My Chart", accessible via a confidential login at a separate site linked by clicking on this rectangle. Patients can view important information about their care, including lab test and imaging results.
NEW PATIENTS. New patients with a diagnosis of cancer or other life disrupting illness are often overwhelmed, and we want to make it as easy as possible for them to find what they need to know about getting care, making appointments, how to prepare for an initial visit, how to get financial support, and where to find support services. This is the button to click.
PHYSICIAN REFERRALS. Most new patients arrive at the practice via referrals from primary physicians or other specialist physicians. We want to make it as easy as possible for referring physicians to set up a referral, and to know what to expect once patients have been referred. This is the button to click.
YOUR VISIT. For all patients, new and established. Everything to know and do related to your visits. This is the button to click.
PHONE ICON and NUMBER. This isn't a button, but the central main number for all NMCC sites, all physicians, all specialties, all questions, all requests for appointments, reaching a triage nurse for possible immediate same-day care, and everything else. It is the one number that answers 24/7, every day of the year.
Header Menu - These are items that provide general information:
ABOUT. Basic information about NMCC, our history, our guiding principles.
TEAM. All of the NMCC people involved in your care.
ART. The artwork that fills our centers.
CAREERS. Career opportunities at NMCC.
NEWS. Recent postings related to news about NMCC.
BLOG. Postings about almost any topic related to NMCC.
CONTACT. How to contact us.
ESPAÑOL. Viewing this entire site in Spanish (a work in progress).
SEARH ICON. (see: "Searching For Something" below).
Scattered throughout the website, you will find the symbol (icon) for a PDF next to a line of text, like this:
If you click on the icon, or the text next to it, it will open up a PDF file for that topic in a separate tab or page in your browser. Try it – this is just a sample PDF, a screen-shot of this page (the links in this sample PDF are not active), so you can see how it works. This page will remain open in your browser, so you can easily return here.
PDF files are a standard way of sending a printable page of information on the internet. You can click on "SAVE" in your browser to download the PDF file to your computer or mobile device, where you can view it or print it.
If you cannot easily locate the item you are looking for in our very friendly menu system, you can click on the magnifying glass icon at the right end of the header menu, and that will open a Search box. Simply enter the item you wish to search (that will automatically overwrite the placeholder word "Search"), and hit your Return key. The page that comes up lists all of the pages on which your search term can be found. Unfortunately, after each page title, that page begins with all of the menu items that precede the text. Simply click on the page title, or "Read more", to go to that page.
To "Share": On the right side of every page except for the Front (Home) Page, you'll find a vertical stack of 4 icons for Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus and Pinterest that floats against the right page margin. You can also click on the ellipsis (...) at the bottom of the vertical stack to display over 20 additional social media sites. You can click on any of these for which you have an account, and that will automatically set up an entry where you can share information about the page you are on.
To "Follow": NMCC currently has a Facebook page. At the very bottom of every page, in the center below the collection of links, you'll find a Facebook icon that you can clink to go directly to our Facebook site (that will open in a new page or tab). You can try it here:
[et_social_follow icon_style="slide" icon_shape="rounded" icons_location="top" col_number="auto" outer_color="dark"]
If NMCC participates in other social media in the future, we will add their icons.
