We value your time. We work hard to keep ourselves on schedule so you spend as little waiting time as possible. We can almost always accommodate same-day appointments for urgent issues. If you are unable to keep an appointment please let us know 24 hours in advance – for any type of appointment at NMCC, at either of our locations.

Calling for the First Time
When you make your first call to New Mexico Cancer Center (NMCC), you will speak with a New Patient Coordinator, who will:
- Describe the process of beginning care at NMCC
- Answer your questions
- Set up an initial consultation.
If you have an emergent need, we will work to get you seen withint 24 hours. For other appointments, it will depend on your insurance company's prior authorization policies. Your new patient coordinator will explain this process to you.
Same Day Care
As your Oncology Medical Home, one of our highest priorities is keeping you healthy and out of the hospital. If you are feeling ill, don't wait: please call us right away. We will strive to get you seen at NMCC almost immediately, do the necessary examinations and tests, and start appropriate intervention and therapy as quickly as possible. Most of the time, we will send you home feeling better that same day, with follow-up as needed, often daily, until you are better. We do not want you sitting for hours in a hospital emergency room, with delayed intervention, and exposure to hospital environments often filled with bacteria and viruses. We want you at home, with your family, getting the care you need when you need it.
When You Arrive
When you come into our office, please check in at the front desk. Our receptionist will verify your address, phone number, current primary care physician and current insurance information. Please present all your medical insurance cards at each visit. (If your insurance coverage changes in any way, please let us know as soon as possible.) If you have waited more that 20 minutes after checking in, please notify the receptionist.
Next Visit Planning
Patient care coordinators who work with your doctor will schedule your next appointment. They will also schedule any required tests or hospitalizations. Our nurses can help you schedule other appointments, such as chemotherapy or labs.
