Experience & Interests: Russell Disch is a New Mexico Native, born in Farmington
and raised in Santa Fe New Mexico. Russell attended high school at Saint Michaels HS
and graduated in 2011. He continued his education at the University of New Mexico
where he graduated during the summer term of 2017. During that time, Russell
discovered his passion for medicine working for an underserved community hospital
known as UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center. He worked directly with patients as
a Patient care tech in a multitude of medical settings, gaining experience in geriatric
psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, Internal medicine, orthopedics, and intensive care.
Russell was accepted into PA school during fall of 2018 and matriculated during
summer of 2019. Russell attended Heritage University/PNWU in Yakima Washington
and graduated with honors in May of 2021. Russell’s New Mexico roots brought him
back to the land of enchantment where he started his first job as a board-certified
physician assistant. Prior to NMCC, he accumulated nearly two years of urgent
care/emergency medicine experience, managing a myriad of acute conditions. His
continuous commitment to lifelong learning brought him to NMOHC. Russell’s personal
connection to oncology stems from losing his grandfather to prostate cancer and
recalling the emotional difficulties associated with his battle. Russell’s enthusiasm and
devotion to serve New Mexicans makes him a valuable provider to the community and
NMOHC. When Russell is away from medicine, he enjoys sports, cooking, fishing, and
spending time with his family.
