FDG PET Scan
An FDG PET scan shows how active different areas of your body are. Your preparation is important because food, blood sugar and exercise can affect your images.
WHAT DOES AN FDG PET SCAN LOOK FOR?
An FDG PET scan shows metabolic activity – how active cells are inside your body. Areas with increased cell activity may absorb more of the tracer and become easier to see. This can help your doctor diagnose and monitor disease.
WHAT TRACER WILL I RECEIVE?
You will receive a small amount of F-18 FDG, a radioactive form of glucose.
