A Vizamyl PET scan helps your doctor look for certain protein deposits in your brain. These deposits are often associated with conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and can give your doctor more information about your brain health.
WHAT DOES THIS SCAN LOOK FOR?
A Vizamyl PET scan helps your doctor look for certain protein deposits in your brain. These deposits are often associated with conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and can give your doctor more information about your brain health.
WHAT TRACER WILL I RECEIVE?
You will receive a small amount of F18 Vizamyl. The tracer attaches to specific protein deposits in the brain so they can be seen on PET images.

How to prepare for a Vizamyl PET scan
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
This study should not be performed on pregnant patients. If you are breastfeeding, use previously pumped and stored breast milk or formula for 48 hours after the scan.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING MY PET/CT?
The IV, tracer, rest period, scanner experience and after-care are the same basic process described on our PET/CT Imaging page.
