Personal Biography: After completing training in Internal Medicine, Dr. Kubica worked for 2-1/2 years in the Indian Health Service in Talequah Oklahoma with the Cherokee tribe. He worked for 1-1/2 years at Acoma Canoncito and Laguna Hospital near Sky City taking care of the Pueblo and Navajo Indians in that area.
After completing his oncology and transfusion medicine training at the University of New Mexico in 1991, he started a solo practice in Norman Oklahoma and eventually joined Cancer Care associates of Oklahoma and there he went on to be one of the founding physicians of US Oncology.
In 1999 he moved to Algodones New Mexico and joined New Mexico Cancer Associates and eventually became president of the group.
In 2009 he moved to Vermont to join the faculty of Dartmouth with a joint appointment at the Medical School in Hanover New Hampshire and clinical appointment at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. In 2012 he became the Codirector of the Norris Cotton Cancer Center in St. Johnsbury Vermont which is Dartmouth’s full service rural cancer center to help with providing state-of-the-art cancer care for the rural areas in northern Vermont and New Hampshire. During that time he helped established access to clinical trials for rural patients and remained an integral part of the clinical program at Dartmouth Hitchcock medical Center in Lebanon New Hampshire.
Dr Kubica has a strong family ties to New Mexico. He grew up in New Mexico attending Montgomery Elementary school, Cleveland junior high school, and Del Norte high school. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of New Mexico, attended the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, and did his internal medicine and oncology training at the University of New Mexico Affiliated Hospitals. He is joined by his wife Christine Campbell who is a retired ICU nurse at the University of New Mexico Hospital. His three brothers and daughter all live in the Albuquerque area.
When he is not seeing patients he is an avid flyfisherman, and spends time tying flies, making his own bamboo fly rods, and fishing with his three Newfoundland dogs. He also is a horseman and has been riding English Dressage for the past 35 years and continues to ride and train horses.
