Patient Navigation & Outreach
At NMCC, Jess Quring CN-BA, OPN-CG, is our professionally trained, culturally competent and very compassionate oncology patient navigator. Jess and our equally excellent and caring patient navigator Amanda Nieto, work with patients, families, physicians and the health care system to ensure that your needs are effectively addressed. They are there to assist you with all of your supportive care.
(At some cancer centers, patient navigators take care of scheduling and appointments; at NMCC our Oncology Medical Home takes care of all scheduling.)
Common concerns include emotional challenges, caregiver support, legal matters, financial assistance, transportation and lodging issues, assistance with the New Mexico Cancer Center Foundation grant application, and help in dealing with insurance company care coordinators.
Jess and Amanda work to organize various educational opportunities for our patients and their families, facilitate NMCC support groups and community organizational support group activity. At any given time, there are a number of NMCC support groups that vary depending upon the needs of our patients. Jess can also refer patients to local cancer community organizations depending upon the needs of each patient.
If you would like to meet with either of our navigators, or to find out more about the care support services that are currently available, please simply mention that to any staff member.
