Introducing New Mexico Cancer Center’s Groundbreaking Alzheimer’s Program
Innovative Diagnosis & Treatment for a Brighter Future
At New Mexico Cancer Center (NMCC), we believe that knowledge is power—especially when it comes to Alzheimer’s disease. That’s why we’ve launched a first-of-its-kind program designed to diagnose and manage Alzheimer’s early, helping patients maintain their brain function, independence, and quality of life for as long as possible.
A Smarter Approach to Alzheimer’s Care
Our comprehensive program offers a proactive way to take control of cognitive health. We combine cutting-edge genetic testing, advanced PET imaging, and expert medical consultation to detect Alzheimer’s early and create a personalized treatment plan if needed. While Alzheimer’s can’t be prevented or reversed, early intervention can significantly slow its progression—helping you or your loved one continue living life on your own terms.s.
Now Offering Vizamyl™ for Advanced Diagnosis
NMCC is proud to be one of the first facilities in New Mexico able to prescribe Vizamyl, a highly advanced PET imaging agent used to detect amyloid plaques—one of the key indicators of Alzheimer’s. Until recently, Vizamyl was not available in the state, making early and accurate diagnosis more difficult. With this breakthrough availability, we’re ensuring that New Mexicans have access to the latest advancements in Alzheimer’s detection and care.
Why Choose NMCC’s Alzheimer’s Program?
- Advanced Diagnostics – Our program includes genetic testing and PET scans for the most accurate early detection.
- Personalized Care – Every patient receives an individualized plan to help slow progression and manage symptoms, all designed to help patients enjoy more independence and higher quality of life for as long as possible.
- Affordable & Accessible – Covered by most insurance plans, our program offers lower out-of-pocket costs compared to hospital-based care.
A Personal Mission
This initiative is deeply personal to NMCC CEO Dr. Barbara McAneny, who has watched a loved one suffer the devastating affects of an Alzheimer’s diagnosis in recent years. She knows firsthand how critical early intervention is, and that is why we are committed to making these services available to as many families as possible.
