Yolanda Acosta Memorial Foundation

Mission

The Yolanda Acosta Memorial works with the New Mexico Cancer Center Foundation to lessen the financial burden of individuals who are battling breast cancer, while memorializing Yolanda Acosta’s life, the values she lived by, and the courage with which she faced her bout with breast cancer.

Our Story

On January 21, 2014, Yolanda, a much loved mother, daughter, sister and friend lost her courageous 4-year battle with breast cancer. One of Yolanda’s final wishes, if she had survived her battle with cancer, was to dedicate a large part of her life to helping women who are battling breast cancer and and to be part of their support system. It is that very dream that lives on today, and from which the Yolanda Acosta Memorial Foundation was created by her son Brandon and supported by his friends, peers and community. Donations from previous foundation events have been donated directly to women who are fighting breast cancer and who are in a financial burden due to this illness. Over the course of 3 years, the foundation is proud to have been able to surprise 7 women with over 7 thousand dollars in monetary donations, and through her son, build relationships with these women and be a part of their support system just as his mother wished. She is remembered fondly by her mother Concha, her son Brandon, her sister Carol and many other family and friends. It is in her compassionate spirit to help others that her son has established the fund to provide assistance to an applicant whose has also been diagnosed with breast cancer and is in need of financial assistance. Her son's only request is that 100% off all money raised goes directly to these women.
