I wss born in Texas and served in the US Air Force and have been a lifelong artist. I have in many exhibits starting in Colorado Springs, then on to Denver, Pueblo, Albuquerque, and Santa Fe. I am represented by Nuart Gallery in Santa Fe, NM, and Mary Martin Fine Art Gallery in Charleston, SC. My work is included in various corporate and individual collections, including the Santa Fe and Albuquerque Museums, the National Hispanic Cultural Center, and the Colorado Judicial Building in Denver. I exhibit in many styles and forms of artwork, but I am primarily known for surrealist/fantastical work, as well as Westerns and landscapes and Chicano/Latino themes.
I experiment with paint, oil or acrylic, sometimes spray, and use it in many styles, different surfaces, and forms. mainly, I paint on linen and other canvas types, but also use paper, wood, and metal as surfaces. The cutouts range from these funny creatures (mergatroids and eggmen) now on display to full-blown figurative installations. I invoke many arty and popular references, employing drama and humor, to draw the viewer in. These cutouts are about jokes or cliches or something obvious, but, when thought about a little more, have a bit of truth.
